Searchers Look for Missing Woman in Plainfield, Romeoville

Group looks for clues in disappearance of Joliet mom Linda Barr Fellenbaum.

Family, friends and volunteers combed areas along Renwick Road near Plainfield Sunday, searching for clues in the disappearance of a young Joliet mother, according to the Herald-News.

Deborah Barr said her daughter, 33-year-old Linda Barr Fellenbaum, was last seen leaving her boyfriend’s home at 3608 Crockett Court in Joliet’s Old Renwick Trail subdivision, located off Renwick Road near I-55.

According to the Herald-News, nearly 50 people showed up to search for Fellenbaum, including her mother and her sister, Sarah Ogeto. Friends, family and volunteers knocked on doors and searched fields, but ultimately did not turn up any hard clues, Ogeto said.

“I’m hoping that we find some information from someone — some kind of evidence of what direction she was going in that can help us to find her,” Ogeto told the newspaper. Click here to read the entire article.

Based out of the parking lot at Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville, searchers walked fields and marshy areas near Renwick Road, looking for signs of the missing mom in a search area that stretched into Romeoville, Plainfield, Crest Hill and Joliet.

Barr told Patch her daughter was last seen Oct. 21 walking away from boyfriend Donald Wolak’s Crockett Court home — leaving behind her car, cell phone and even her shoes, her mother said.

Wolak, meanwhile, filed a report with Joliet police, alleging Fellenbaum stole a “large sum” of cash from him, along with a gun. Police said the couple argued over the missing money on Oct. 21, and Wolak told police she then fled the house. According to police, a neighbor backed up Wolak’s story, saying he saw Fellenbaum leaving the Crockett Court home.

Barr said the mother of three would not willingly disappear for weeks without telling her family where she was going.

“This is 100 percent out of character for her,” she told Patch.

The day she vanished, Fellenbaum had reportedly met with a Chicago man for tryst the two allegedly set up on Craigslist, the man claimed. But after meeting with the man in Naperville, Fellenbaum reportedly changed her mind and backed out.

The sad truth is that it happens everywhere, our reporters just report it - whereas other town's perfect bubbles would pop if anything bad came out in the news. I truly hope Linda is found safe and alive.

You guys really need to look at the facts about linda. Nobody did any harm to her. Here's the facts. Linda stole a gun. What kind of women let alone a mother steals a gun?????? What kind of mother doesn't have custody of her own children???? What kind of mother places sex ads on craigslist?????? Linda has a track record of stealing money from men. Yes these are facts that have been backed up. Linda is in hiding cuz she knows she's in trouble n why would she contact her family???? She. Hasn't spoken to them in over 5 months. I will say this one more time. The boyfriend n mr close to the situation didn't cause any harm to her. She ran away cuz she knew the cops were involved with the missing money n gun.

As a Commissioner, I would have liked to have seen a comparison of the budget that was presented inRead More our Board packets as a draft at a prior meeting compared to the draft that was put on the table before me at the last meeting so that I can see where the cuts took place. Spending down this year's contingency line items is like a sugar rush and will negatively affect the Park District's future. Prior Boards have been carrying over the contingency amounts from year to year in order to deal with unexpected expenses that inevitably come up. Just last week, the Administration Center was without a/c when the four units failed and needed to be replaced. Where did the funds come from to do that work? Its not as if the Board can go out and raise funds in the private market. That's what businesses CAN and should do, but then a park district is not a business. I resent the statements that prior Boards have been acting in a financially irresponsible manner. The Board has been operating a lean operation for many years.

I am just wondering how long this suspense filled soap opera will continue? Bottom line: HurtadoRead More knew his buddy needed a job...so; he and his majority board members made a mockery of local government due process and gave Mr. Peck a job, even though Hurtado voted with the past board to unanimously select an Exec…who is still under a contract. And then decided there was a need to pay a board secretary (who jumped out of the frying pan…smart move) and then appointed someone without pay. And of course there is a need to have a paid political hack to help publicly spin the board’s craziness via press releases.

I hate to ask the obvious of Mr. Peck (not that I expect him to answer anyway), but why is thisRead More announcement coming from the Executive Director rather than our newly appointed Director of Communications?
