Seven DUIs Caught During St. Pat's Crackdown
Police also issued 328 tickets during a seat belt campaign and 10 tickets for stopping on top of or too close to train tracks during an enforcement at a railroad grade crossing.
During two recent law enforcement campaigns, the made seven driving under the influence arrests and issued 328 tickets for seat belt violations and 10 for stopping too close to or on top of railroad tracks.
The from March 12 to 20, and was aimed at impaired drivers and people not wearing seat belts, according to a release issued by the department Thursday. It was particularly focused on St. Patrick's Day, which happened to fall on a Saturday this year and tends to be a day on which some people over-imbibe.
The railroad crossing crackdown was held on March 21 at the tracks on Route 126, east of Route 29. Police from Canadian National and BNSF railroads assisted.

In addition to issuing 10 tickets to people stopped within the grade crossing, they also cited one person for not having insurance, one for violating the child passenger safety act, one for driving while license suspended and one for disobeying a no passing zone. Three people received warnings for stopping within a railroad grade crossing.
