Suspect in Police Custody for CVS Armed Robbery

Few details available about the Wednesday night incident, other than no one was injured and no shots fired, Joliet Lt. Mike Batis said.

A man accused of holding up the CVS drug store at Caton Farm and Drauden roads Wednesday night is in custody and likely to be charged with armed robbery, Joliet police Lt. Mike Batis said.

The incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m., and it's believed the suspect acted alone. No shots were fired or no employees or customers were injured, Batis said.

Beyond that, however, no other details about what occurred or how the suspect was captured will be released until morning, he said.

"The suspect's being interviewed right now," said Batis, speaking at about 9:40 p.m. "He probably will be booked (into the Will County jail) tonight."

The 2375 Drauden Rd. store was surrounded by a half dozen squad cars, and officers blocked the parking lot entrances to prevent customers from going into the store while the on-site investigation was being conducted. The few employees seen leaving the store at about 9 p.m. declined to discuss the incident.
