Teen Charged With Sex Abuse of Boy Looking to Leave Jail

The lawyer for a Plainfield teen charged with sexually abusing a boy will argue to have his bond reduced.

A Plainfield teen locked up in the Will County jail for more than a year on charges he sexually abused a boy might get out if his lawyer can convince a judge to give him a low enough bond.

Jason Minger, 19, appeared before Judge Sarah Jones Wednesday and his lawyer, Chuck Bretz, said he will argue for a lower bond on Friday.

Minger was arrested in May 2012 for allegedly abusing a boy over the course of a year. The alleged abuse may have been committed nearly two years prior to Minger being taken into custody, according to court papers. The boy would have been 10 years old at the time of the alleged abuse.

Minger reportedly faced two felony charges. The more serious of the two felonies has been dismissed. Bretz said he will base his request for a new bond on the change in the charges.

Minger has been held in lieu of $250,000 bond.
