Teens Arrested After Police Spot Loaded Gun

The three were driving around with the weapon in their car, and admitted that earlier in the day one of them had shot off several rounds, Joliet police said.

A traffic stop Tuesday night led to the arrest of three teens found to be driving around with a loaded gun in their car, Joliet Police Cmdr. Rich Demick said.

Tactical officers pulled over Victor Harris, 18, of 3608 Indian Head Lane, at about 10:20 p.m. at Jefferson and Reed streets when they determined he was driving despite having had his license revoked/suspended, Demick said.

When they looked into his car, they spotted not only the gun but also an open bottle of Crown Royal and a cup containing the whiskey, although no alcohol-related charges were filed, he said.

Harris' passengers, Audrianna Anessa Norton, 18, of 5602 Stonybrook Drive in unincorporated Plainfield, and Shaquille C. Barrow, 18, of 503 N. Center St., were charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and illegal possession of ammunition without an FOID card.

Harris was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon by a felon and one count each of illegal possession of ammunition without an FOID card and driving on a revoked/suspended license.

When the three were brought to the Joliet Police Station for questioning, they also admitted that Harris had shot the gun several times earlier that day while they were outside his home in the 3600 block of Indian Head, Demick said. After police retrieved the spent shell casings in the area, Harris was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, he said.

Harris has had several recent run-ins with the police, including arrests for vehicle theft conspiracy in January and for residential burglary in August 2012.

Harris and Barrow are being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $150,000 bond. Norton is being held in lieu of $20,000 bond.
