Three Plainfield Men Busted in Early Morning Drug Raid

Police recover 16 pounds of cannabis and $21,000 in cash, Plainfield Cmdr. Anthony Novak said.

Sixteen pounds of cannabis valued at more than $70,0o0 and $21,000 in cash were recovered from a Plainfield home where three men were arrested on felony drug charges, Plainfield police Cmdr. Anthony Novak said.

Police used a warrant to search the house at 1911 Mystic Drive at 6:30 a.m. Monday. Investigators suspected narcotics trafficking was being done from the residence, and enlisted the assistance of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the Will County Cooperative Police Assistance Team and the Joliet Police Department to conduct the raid, Novak said in a news release.

Sefedin Aliu, 53, and Ben Burim Aliu, 28, both of whom live at 1911 Mystic, were charged with one count each of manufacturing/delivery of cannabis in excess of 5,000 grams, a Class X felony; possession of cannabis in excess of 5,000 grams, a Class 1 felony, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor.

Drin Sulejmani, 22, also of 1911 Mystic Drive, was charged with manufacturing/delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis, both in excess of 5,000 grams.

All three are being held in the Will County Adult Detention Center pending their bond hearing, the news release said.
