Two vehicles were involved in a rear-end crash at around 6 p.m. on I-55 southbound near Route 30, Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said.

Shortly after 6 p.m., Stratton said a second ambulance had been called to the scene. He said two people were being taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mike - Plainfield officials can't be bothered with things like this. They either are not aware of how to provide input to state agencies, or have chosen not to. When IDOT came to them with the plan that was to be put in place for rt30, it was the FIRST time they had heard about the changes. It is pathetic that these people are in charge of the village. What is worse, is the residents keep putting them there. And yes, you are right, someone will have to die before the residents boot them out and elect someone competent for the job.

The Ramp work at 55 & 30 was originally scheduled to go to bid on 2/28/14. It was pulled at the last minute for some reason. I don't believe that this project would(will) give much relief to the situation that "oldschool" sited. The project is basically a patch job with a bit of shoulder widening and some electrical work--around a $1.5M job. That's peanuts--hopefully IDOT understood Oldschool's observations and will opt to plan some REAL work--like a complete reconfiguration/pavement widening. No new notification has been given as to a new bid date.-----If you want to follow on IDOT's Site, find from 2/28 --"003 CONTRACT: 60W13 DISTRICT: 01" ITEM HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE LETTING. Often times IDOT will open their eyes only after someone gets hurt.

And to Oldschool--CF is a valid Construction term ;0)

All that is well and good, but stupid drivers will always be around, whether ramps are built or not. You can pass a driving test, but lack of common sense cannot be licensed.
