Two intoxicated men apparently didn't want the party to end when they attacked Joliet police officers attempting to break up the gathering they were at early Sunday morning, Capt. Tab Jensen said.

The officers were called to a house at 4223 Carrington Lane, which has a Plainfield mailing address and is located near Bronk and Caton Farm roads, at about 12:40 a.m. on a complaint of loud music, Jensen said.

When they announced to the group gathered that the party was over, Nery R. Fajardo, 40, of 6613 Morningstar Lane, threw a beer can at one of the officers, striking him in the leg, and then struggled when the officer tried to handcuff him, he said.

Another party-goer, 24-year-old Blake Speckman of St. Joseph, Ill., threw himself at a different officer and took him to the ground, Jensen said. The pair struggled before the officer was finally able to cuff him, he said.

Both men were arrested and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. They're being held in Will County jail pending a bond hearing.

Alrighty then. How stupid can you be? And even worse, assuming the can wasn't empty, what a waste of beer.
