Two Transported to Hospital Following Car Vs. Pick-up Truck Accident

The accident took place at Route 126 and Schlapp Road.

At 6:21 a.m. this morning the Oswego Fire Protection District responded to a two-vehicle accident at Route 126 and Schlapp Road.

Oswego Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Josh Walters said two vehicles, a pick-up truck and a car, were involved in the accident, although at this time the cause of the acccident remains under investigation.

  • The drivers of both vehicles were transferred to Rush Copley Hospital via ambulance.

    Walters did not have information to the extent of their injuries, but no helicopters were called to the scene for an airlift.

    Route 126 and Schlapp Road has a sad history of accidents.

    Earlier in August a bad accident was reported at that intersection when a semi-truck and passenger vehicle collided. Fortunately no one was killed, although five people sustained injuries and one was air-lifted from the scene.

    In June of 2012, three teenagers were killed at the intersection when their car pulled out in front of a semi truck.

    The accident is being handled by Illinois State Police. Plainfield Fire also responded to the accident.

    Route 126 was down to one lane following the accident.
