  • Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said at around 10:30 a.m., a van is believed to have run a red light, striking a sedan, which then spun and struck another vehicle.

The female driver of the van and an infant in a car seat were unharmed in the crash, Stratton said, and the woman refused treatment for herself and the baby at the scene.

The male driver in the sedan was also unhurt, but a female passenger was pinned in the car and had to be extricated, Stratton said. She was taken to Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora in fair condition, he said.

The lone occupant of the third vehicle, a man, refused treatment, according to Stratton.

Plainfield police did not immediately return a message from Patch regarding the crash on Tuesday.
