Woman Involved in DUI Crash Had Child With Her: Police

Police said the 7-year-old was not buckled in when her mother got into a crash at the 119th Street railroad crossing early Sunday morning.

A woman was drunk — and traveling with her unrestrained 7-year-old daughter — when she crashed into a railroad crossing control box early Sunday, according to Plainfield police.

Nina Brass, 30, of 1900 Marlboro Lane in Crest Hill, is charged with aggravated DUI, improper traffic lane use, driving an uninsured vehicle and a child restraint violation, according to Will County booking records.

Plainfield Sgt. Mike Fisher said Brass' vehicle left the roadway at the 119th Street railfroad crossing and struck a control box at around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

Brass failed field sobriety tests and was placed into custody at the Plainfield Police Department before being transported to the Will County jail, Fisher said.

No one was injured in the crash, according to police, and no other vehicles were involved.
