Poll: Foster and Biggert Neck and Neck

A week before the election, poll shows less than a point difference between the 11th Congressional District rivals.

A new poll shows Democratic challenger Bill Foster leading incumbent Judy Biggert by less than 1 point in their battle to represent the new 11th District.

Professional polling firm We Ask America released the results of an automated Oct. 28 poll showing former 14th District Congressman Foster leading the seven-term Republican 50.4 percent to 49.6 percent.

According to the poll, which sampled more than 1,300 likely voters, the candidates were tied among women, while Foster had a slight — as in 2-point — lead among male voters.

The race between Biggert and Foster has been a contentious one, with the two accusing each other of negative campaigning and Foster taking aim at Biggert over a controversial ad released by the National Republican Congressional Committee.

The ad accused Foster of personally profiting from his two-year stint representing the 14th District, a claim he called an "outright lie."

The opponents' last go-round came last week during a live televised debate on WTTW's "Chicago Tonight," where the two sounded off on tax cuts and gay marriage.

This week, Foster, who supported the Dream Act, appeared at a forum aimed at at addressing issues of interest to the Will County Latino community. Biggert sent a representative to discuss her views on immigration and related topics.

Bill Foster gets my vote for his stance on the Environment and he is endorsed by the Sierra Club. Go Bill!

Biggert's stands on civil unions (which I support) instead of gay marriage (because it won't just stop there) and maintaining the tax cuts (which people seem to forget that Obama kept in place when he took over) get my vote.
While I personally don't like the fact that she's running for an 8th term, the alternative, in Bill Foster, is much worse.

Rather not have either of them in office.

Biggert has lost DuPage Township going all the way back to 2004. Those numbers have to be neutralized for her to eke out a victory. That could be the reason why early voting hours are severely restricted in Bolingbrook this time around.

This poll sounds about right; We Ask America reportedly is a bit R-leaning; whoever has the better ground game here wins.

Apparently Bill Foster used to abuse his wife! Sounds like a war on women! Here's a link. http://billfosterabuse.com/

What a pathetic excuse for an attack. Was he convicted or did his ex make this up? Seriously, you should be spending the Koch brothers money more intelligently. For instance, an unsubstantiated 15 year old claim means that you've actually surrendered your position as you don't really have a full thought going on here.

An interesting note that Biggert does not live in the NEW 11th Congressional that she is running for ... signs that she is just a professional politician that doesn't care for her constituents ... even in her own neighborhood. Vote for Foster ....

I can't vote for Biggert. She's a career politican, which means she has no real understanding of the people she serves - her time has been spent in Washington for decades, not here!
And with the gridlock in Washington, I can't support a person who's just rubber stamping the GOP NO campaign.

Dems are desperate. Just read their posts.

Keep voting Democrat and it wont matter because we will all be BANKRUPT!!! But then again that's what they want.

OH it's close. Quick, someone phone a friend and exclude some people so we can sway this democratic election of the people in our favor!

Biggert needs to retire. Too long in office. I don't like career politicians. We need young, energetic people in office.

You are 100% correct. Cutting 4 worker's hours is disgusting and disgraceful. I've been talking toRead More alot of people around the schools and sports fields at my childrens activies. Hurtado and Peck are quickly becoming the most hated people of Plainfield; with Booth, Steinys and Silotsky right behind them. They are spending tax payer money extravagantly on their salaries, cars, and God knows what else at the PPD. You've brought shame to yourselves, your families and your friends. If you 5 aren't ashamed of yourselves then you are just plain evil and selfish and deserve the reprecussions coming your way very soon.

I am just wondering how long this suspense filled soap opera will continue? Bottom line: HurtadoRead More knew his buddy needed a job...so; he and his majority board members made a mockery of local government due process and gave Mr. Peck a job, even though Hurtado voted with the past board to unanimously select an Exec…who is still under a contract. And then decided there was a need to pay a board secretary (who jumped out of the frying pan…smart move) and then appointed someone without pay. And of course there is a need to have a paid political hack to help publicly spin the board’s craziness via press releases.

I hate to ask the obvious of Mr. Peck (not that I expect him to answer anyway), but why is thisRead More announcement coming from the Executive Director rather than our newly appointed Director of Communications?
Bad News Bears June 18, 2013 at 02:53 pm
Mr. Peck, please answer 2 questions for me: 1. If you are cutting $800K but AdministrativeRead More Salaries are up over $118K, where are the cuts coming from. I have always been a patron of the Park District and want to know which of my programs your skimming off to pay yourself and Mr. Booth. 2. "Our staff deserves a lot of credit for this budget,” Peck said, “as their efforts to hold the line wherever possible have led to our success on behalf of District residents." Is reducing hours of employees the way you reward your staff now? I'm very upset that you honestly thought that cutting loyal employees hours instead of offering benefits was a good idea. I have a better one, cut the hours of Mr. Booth who has an unnecessary job and use his pay and salaries to offset the 4 loyal part-time workers. I will not hold my breath for your answers since answering questions to the people who pay your salary isn't on your to do list
