Dunkin' Donuts May Be Headed to Spot at Route 59 and Main Street

Building owner Carl Bryant says he needs a drive-through permit from the village before the fast-food restaurant can fill the former American Bicycle storefront.

A fourth Plainfield Dunkin' Donuts store will open near the corner of Route 59 and Main Street/Route 126 if the village allows the business to have a drive-through window.

Building owner Carl Bryant has applied for a special-use permit for the storefront, located at the eastern end the Main Street Square strip mall at 23915 W. Main St. The request will go before the Plainfield Plan Commission on Jan. 17 and the in February.

Bryant said there's been interest in the 1,300-square-foot former American Bicycle shop location, which has been vacant for about a year, but he's been waiting for a tenant that would "complement" the property.

"What's nice about the location is it's on the south side of the road," making it easily accessible to anyone headed to work who wants to grab a cup of coffee or breakfast before taking Route 126 to Interstate 55, Bryant said.

It's also a good spot, he said, because it has entrances on both Route 59 and Main Street.

The storefront layout is basically open and easily remodeled for Dunkin' Donuts' purposes. If the special-use permit application process goes smoothly, Bryant said, the fast-food restaurant could be open by spring.
