Think Summer -- Pool Passes on Sale Now!

Even if this has been the mildest winter in a long time, the idea of sun, pools and bathing suits still beats overcast skies, snow shovels and winter coats any old day.

And don't think the doesn't know it. passes have gone on sale, and if you take advantage of the early bird discount, you'll save a whopping 30 percent now through June 10.

The pool opens for the season on May 26 (for those keeping track at home, that 107 days from now).

The prices are the same as last year. And anyone who purchases an early bird family season pass will receive five free guest passes.

Season pass holders also are admitted to open swim 15 minutes before the general public and receive free admission to select special events, such as Flick-N-Float movies, Family Theme Nights, and Family Fun Day.

In addition, the park district offers group and private swim lessons certified by the American Red Cross, lifeguard training, and other classes. Registration for swim lessons is currently under way, and anyone who registers for swim lessons by May 4 will receive one free practice pass per session.

Ottawa Street Pool, built in 1981, is a 200,000-gallon, L-shaped pool equipped with high and low diving boards. It also has a 3,000-gallon wading pool, ship-shaped children’s play area, and men’s and women’s locker rooms.
