JJC Board Votes to Extend President's Contract

Deal includes a 3.3 percent raise over two years.

The Joliet Junior College Board on Tuesday voted 4-3 to extend President Debra Daniels' contract by two years.

Daniels has been in the job since March 2012. In December 2011, the JJC board chose her from a pool of finalists following a nationwide search for a new president. She succeeded JJC's first female president, Gena Proulx, who died in August 2011.

Tuesday's decision means Daniels is slated to stay on board through February 2017. Her current contract ends in 2015.

Daniels will get a 3.3 percent raise during the two-year extension. Her current salary is $196,000, according to the Herald News.

The college's eighth president, Daniels has more than 30 years' experience in higher education and most recently served as the president of San Bernardino Valley College in California.
