Parking Lot Lights Installed in Downtown Plainfield

New lights will be installed in the Plainfield Public Library lot on Monday if weather permits.

Parking lot improvements continue in downtown Plainfield, with the installation of new lights in the DesPlaines Street parking lot.

The Plainfield Public Works Department shared photos of the progress Friday on its Facebook page.

According to the village, new lights in the Plainfield Public Library/Route 59 parking lot will be completed Monday, weather permitting.

The Route 59 lot and the Plainfield library parking lot on Illinois Street reopened in November after improvements added 30 new spaces. Read more about the project.

YAY! It is already so much nicer to be downtown and do a little wandering and visit our fine if very up against it space-wise library, but with good illumination at night, this is going to be even more wonderful. In spring the landscaping embellishments will start to grow and be pretty accents, too. Can't wait. Thanks to all involved in getting it done.

Thank God. I was starting to think that when they planned the lots, they did not intend on installing any. It's an extremely dark and a little bit unsettling walking to your car right now, at night.

Just a heads up (no Pun here). The Desplaines Street Parking lot light, at the North West corner light pole, is being interfered with by a large tree limb. High winds may be a problem waiting to happen. When the tree blooms, leafs will block some light dispersion. Easy fix= 15 minute with a chain saw and bucket truck.
