The village board will vote on a proposal by restaurateur Darryl Sams to purchase 24018 W. Lockport St., a more than century-old building that got its start as a church and has been home to several restaurants, including most recent tenant, Baci Ristorante.

Village Planner Michael Garrigan said Sams plans to complete restoration and ADA upgrades on the building and turn it into a Creole-inspired steak and seafood restaurant complete with a custom-built saltwater aquarium.
The deal on the table is for $175,000, which is $50,000 more than the village paid for the building. The village also invested about $66,000 in roof repairs and mold mitigation on the site in an attempt to save the historic structure and bring it back on the tax rolls.
