Plainfield Board to Vote on Revised Dunkin Donuts Plan, Rod Baker Expansion

Also: A local church is asking to close down Chicago Street for a concert.

A controversial proposal to bring a retail center anchored by a Dunkin Donuts to the corner of Oak, Arnold and Route 59 will go before the village board on Monday.

Known as the Triangle Shoppes, the developer is looking to build a Dunkin Donuts store with a drive-thru, as well as two additional storefronts.

Residents were asked to leave feedback on the proposal via the village's Vision for Division website, and many did not have a favorable view of the plan.

Earlier this month, the developer came back to the Plan Commission with a revised proposal with a "more traditional design," Plainfield Community Relations Director Amy De Boni said.

That plan will go to the board Monday as the applicant seeks rezoning for the half-acre parcel of land, as well as a special use permit and site plan approval.

Concert road closure

Trustees will also consider a request from Plainfield United Methodist Church, 15114 S. Illinois St., which is looking to close Chicago Street between Des Plaines and Illinois streets, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 25 and Thursday, July 24, for activities related to a concert.

Rod Baker Ford, 16101 Joliet Road, is also going before the board Monday, seeking approval for an expansion at the Plainfield car dealership.
