Plainfield School District Hires New Curriculum Administrators

Tina Radomsky will be new director of ELL programming, and Dr. Daniel McDonnell will serve as director of middle and high school curriculum.

Editor's note: The following is a press release issued by Plainfield School District 202.

Two veteran educators will take over key posts in District 202’s Curriculum and Instruction department.

The Board of Education approved hiring Tina Radomsky as the district’s new director for English Language Learner (ELL) programming. She replaces Linda Hoste, who accepted a new position out of state.

Radomsky has served as principal of Mount Vernon Community School in Alexandria, Virginia since 2010. She has a strong background in bilingual education both as a teacher and administrator in school districts throughout Illinois, Texas and Puerto Rico.

She began her education career in 1977 as a third grade teacher in Park Forest, Illinois before moving to Austin, Texas where she taught bilingual gifted fifth grade and kindergarten.

Radomsky moved into administration in 1993 as an elementary assistant principal in Rockford, Illinois, then served as an elementary principal at several schools in Elgin, Illinois from 1994-2005. From 2005-2009, she was executive director of elementary education in Rockford.

“Tina brings a unique skill set and experience that really set her apart from the rest of the candidates,” said Glenn Wood, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

“We are confident that she will help us maintain the excellent progress we’ve made with our bilingual students in the last several years, so that all of our ELL students can meet and exceed district academic and language standards,” Wood said.

The board also approved hiring Dr. Daniel McDonnell as the district’s new director of middle and high school curriculum and instruction. He replaces Wood, who was named assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction in May.

McDonnell has served as assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Minooka Community High School since 2009. He started his education career in 1993 teaching both English and physical education at Prairie Central High School in Fairbury, Illinois.

From 1996-97, McDonnell taught English and served as head wrestling coach at William Penn College in Iowa. He returned to public high school in 1997, teaching physical education and again coaching wrestling for three years at Ottawa High School in Ottawa, Illinois.

McDonnell moved to administration in 2000, serving four years as assistant principal and head wrestling coach, also at Ottawa High School. From 2004-2005, he was assistant principal for instructional support at Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois before moving to Minooka High School in 2005, where he worked as assistant principal for learning through 2009.

“Dr. McDonnell has had success with several initiatives that align with what we’ve been doing, and plan to do here in District 202,” Wood said.

“Specifically we were very impressed with his work on strategic planning, establishing and expanding dual credit offerings, creating a strong instructional framework and improving student scores on the ACT college entrance exam,” Wood said.
