2nd Annual Riverdays Festival Set for Sept. 9-10

The two-day "party in the park" will feature children's activities, a fishing derby, duck race, live music and other activities.

The success of last year’s has spurred plans for an even bigger party in the park this year.

Among the changes for the two-day event, set for Sept. 9 and 10, will be a longer day of Saturday events, shuttle rides from off-site parking and more food vendors.

But the goal remains the same: Bringing people to the banks of the DuPage River and raising money for the Plainfield Riverfront Foundation, which has to restore and enhance the old Electric Park site on which the event is being held.

On Monday, the Board gave its blessing to the foundation using the village-owned park, located on the west side of the river and south of Lockport Street. It also authorized the use of the parking lot at village hall, just west of the park.

The first day of the festival is a ticket-only fundraising barbecue from 6 to 10 p.m., featuring live music, an auction and a bonfire. Last year, tickets cost $75.
