Sidewalk Repairs Start This Week in Plainfield

2012 Sidewalk Program starts Nov. 5.

The Village of Plainfield will begin its 2012 Sidewalk Program to remove and replace damaged sections of sidewalk throughout the village on Nov. 5.

Director of Public Works Allen Persons said the work will include 26 subdivisions, beginning in the northern section of town and working its way south. The project will include the removal and replacement of more than 1,600 lineal feet of sidwalk and 133 feet of lineal concrete curb.

Sections of sidewalk that will be replaced are marked with pink paint, according to the village.

Residents are asked to mark any sprinkler heads adjacent to the sidewalk that might be affected by the work.

In areas where sidewalk removal and replacement work crosses driveways, access will be limited, according to the village. Residents are asked to park in the street while driveways are impacted. The total length of driveway closures will be roughly five days in order to allow the concrete to cure properly.

The program will be completed by the end of the year, Persons said. Total estimated cost of the project is $88,843.75.
