Village Board Approves Plans for New 911 Center

Wescom facility will form a campus with Plainfield's Law Enforcement Center.

The on Monday approved plans for a new 17,000-square-foot Wescom 911 call center at 24600 W. Presidential Drive, located south of the village’s on Coil Plus Drive.

Trustees unanimously voted to approve a site plan for the project.

Village Planner Michael Garrigan said the emergency communications facility will be built on 4.3 acres that Wescom purchased from the village.

“It will be a unified campus,” Garrigan said, adding the exterior of the one-story, precast building will match the Law Enforcement Center.

Wescom Executive Director Steve Rauter said there will be a public access with visitor parking off of Presidential Drive and a separate, secure entrance in the back for Wescom employees and police. There will also be a secure gated access from the Law Enforcement Center via Coil Plus Drive.

“We worked hard with the police department to create a campus so it’s secure all the way around,” Rauter said.

“We’re very happy to have you in town,” trustee Jim Racich told Rauter. “I’m glad to see [the project has] come to fruition.”
