PSHS DRUM-A-THON EVENT

Drum-A-Thon will Fund Replacement Instruments for Plainfield South High School Band

On Saturday September 21, 2013, the Plainfield South Band Boosters will be holding its first  Drum-A-Thon from 8 am until 4 pm.  This year’s effort will raise funds to buy new drumline equipment.  Mark Treece, band booster president explained, “Our equipment is now 12 years old – well beyond the 8 to 10 year life expectancy.  Even with the best of care, the equipment is beyond repair and is holding our kids back from the level of professionalism they desire.”

Band members will keep the beat going for 8 hours straight.

The students, band directors and booster members are excited to make this first-ever event a memorable experience for the whole community. Our band students will display their talent on virtually every style of drum and percussion pit instrument available. Visitors to the Drum-a-Thon will have the opportunity to enjoy a 10 minute drum lesson from our section leaders or other instructors.  There will be a bags tournament with 2 brackets (adults and high school students), activities for kids and concessions.

Corporate event sponsorships are still welcome for this event starting at $150.  Individual sponsorships of $50 or more will receive a free Clean Image Car Wash voucher.

You may sponsor a specific piece of equipment and an engraved emblem will be placed on that drum to remain as a legacy of your support.

Eric Myers, Band Booster vice-president shared, “To leverage the available funds from the district, our entire band is taking on the challenge of raising enough money to complete the purchase of new drumline equipment.” The goal is that by doing so we allow the drumbeat to continue at Plainfield South High School for many years to come.

We hope the community will come out to visit this day of drums and fun to support this effort.  See the Booster website for more details.
