The deep freeze may have thawed, but make no mistake: Winter is still here.

And if this week taught us anything, it's that we should never take for granted creature comforts like a well-functioning furnace.

But what happens when something goes wrong? Who do you call when you need climate control care?

All American Heating and Cooling. Plainfield 815-436-7023. Always honest, trustworthy, and fair. Shows up when he says he will or gives plenty of notice if he is going to be late. Never accepts payment until job is complete and you're satisfied.

From Angie's List last year I got DuAll and they are GREAT! I've referred friends to them who've also been satisfied and for more substantial work than we've needed so far. We've used a couple of other firms in the past three or so years and while they started out very nice and didn't do bad work, they sort of dropped the ball on communication and once a bit of a job just went without follow-up/finishing. TR Miller off 119th and Route 59 I been using them for three years and they are terrific. Honest, reliable and every service man which has been to my house is clean, efficient and shows care to my home. I have been using Home Comfort Systems in Bolingbrook for over 6 years.....call 630-739-5764 and ask for Mike....they are super reliable and quite reasonable in their pricing and servicing..once you become their customer you can expect a quick response and service on any future problems.

Eric at ICC (Illinois Climate Control) in Romeoville. (815) 577-9797. We have used him for 5 years and he has always been on time, professional, and respectful. We had no heat the Saturday after Thanksgiving and he was at my house in 20 mins. Very honest and reasonable pricing A++

The one I would NOT use is Tony from Positive. He is positively not dependable. Left me in the lurch twice. Didn't return phone calls at all! Never again!

the quality of service has gotten so much better since I been asking my facebook family who would they use and who not to use when something needs to be fixed like a furnace or car problems and doctors and so on. word of mouth is the best way to get good service. no more using yellow pages and getting shitty service.

Lockwood in Joliet. Found them using Angie's list. Labor only for replacing ac compressor still under parts warranty. $650 versus $1100 quoted labor from comfort in Naperville (also on Angie's list). Very friendly and prompt.

Rousculp's Heating and Cooling 815-436-4937 Called on the coldest day of the year at 10 am and he was here by noon and we had heat by 12:30. A professional that knows what he is doing, and a straight shooter.

I would not use Pozitive Heating & cooling I believe Tony is the owner, we were out of heat for a few days he has a message that states in an emergency he will call you back in 20 minutes yeah more like 3 days! We were freezing and had been told by him previously that he would come out within 24 hours if it was an emergency we were let down not once but twice by him we did try to give him a second chance to give us a quote on a new furnace and he never even returned our call. UN REAL!!

POZITIVE heating & cooling has over 1000 satisfied customers. Todd & Leslie, tell the people how we have taken care of you on multiple occasions, at dirt cheap prices I might add. We told you for 2 years your furnace needed a cleaning badly and to this day it still hasnt been cleaned. We have even ordered furnace parts for you because you wanted to fix it yourself. We called and told you the parts were in and you never came and picked them up, after we paid for them and the shipping. Last round your husband sent me pictures of a dismantled furnace. Our message says 15 minute response, and it wasnt 3 days later, we never returned your calls, so its not that you wouldnt use POZITIVE again, in actuality POZITIVE refuses to do your work.

Tony Tony Tony. You took care of us and formed what I thought was a good relationship to last years. Boy was I wrong. Yes you came out and fixed our equipment at a fair price. You even inspected it and your assessment was that it needed a cleaning. In actuality the heat exchanger pipes were cracked clean through causing carbon monoxide to pump into my house. (Great catch BTW by me) the furnace died. I called you and face booked you multiple times asking for your help without a call back for DAYS! I finally got a hold of you only after taking matters into my own hands and having a dependable person look at it. The excuse given to me at the time was sorry I didn't call you back but we are really busy. Seems to me professional courtesy would be to call am back immediately and politely decline to help. But instead you fed me a lie and told me the truth in a post on the patch. Well done. I rest my case.

This is why we choose not to take your business. If you have had your furnace cleaned and inspected like we suggested the cracked heat exchanger would have been found. Look at your paper work, we did a service call on your furnace back on Oct. 2, 2012 and noted your furnace was filthy, suggested a cleaning and have never been asked out to look at the furnace again. Dont make it sound like we missed something and thanks to you it was found, when we have never inspected your furnace. The only time you ever call is when its not working and you are unable to fix it yourself. Who dismantles their furnace if they are not trying to fix it themselves? I was never asked to give you a quote on a new furnace, all I got was pictures of what used to be a furnace, and a plea to come help fix it. I rest my case.

Tony, you sound like the type of business owner I would gladly give my business to. Todd is the nightmare customer, didn't take your advice, then blame you when things go wrong. Kudos for standing up for yourself and not bending over backwards to pacify him. You may have lost a customer, but from the sounds of it, he didn't want to spend any money anyways, just wanted you to diagnose the problem and bail him out when his DYI project went bad, I will be calling Pozitive Heating & Cooling when I need repairs done for sure.

Your not getting the point. It has little to do with my furnace and everything to do with professionalism. You were never asked for a quote because you were NOT dependable. I had a QUALIFIED technician take it apart and look at it. The ONLY point is you left me hanging for days, lied about the reason, and continued the charade until this post. I find it perplexing that you would keep to yourself about not working with us in our time of need. We trusted you and you let us down. Don't worry Tony I guarantee we will never call you again.

I work in customer service if a customer calls and asked for help and they never receive a call back that is not good costumer service.That customer will than look for help somewhere else.If a company does not respond to my call with in a day (no one is that busy they can't return a call while driving,on a smoke break at some point they have 3 min to make a call and at least let them know that you are busy.) if I was in that spot I would not be happy or use their service again because in their eyes I am not important enough to receive a call back.it is just common courtesy to at least answer back in a timely matter.

Well we have used pozitive and i would not recommend either. He replaced our ac but then overcharged us by double on the next job! I think as u can see from the posts...... I feel hes a bit arrogant if ur not happy w something. I dont think customer service is his strong suit. Just my opinion but id look elsewhere.

I cant help but respond to Laura. You start off by mentioning we put a new A/C in for you, but fail to comment on whether or not you were happy with the job. You also failed to mention that your husband called me at 10 p.m. stating that you had no a/c and that you were miserable and pregnant, and that we were at your house at 7 a.m with a new a/c. You also failed to mention that even though we had an agrreed upon price, you bickered me down like a garage sale. Tell the people how 3 months later you called me stating your furnace wasnt working and I was at your home within the hour. I diagnosed the problem and sat down with your husband as the work and price was clearly laid out before anything was done. You also forgot to tell the people how you called me that night because you were told by someone we had over charged you for the service, which was discused before the work was done. You also forgot to mention we didnt charge you for the service call just for the part and labor. You also forgot to tell the people how you called me out to check the a/c that wasnt working properly, (which it was working fine) just to get me to your house and attatck me about my pricing. You also forgot to mention to help make you feel better we came back and did a complete furnace tune up for free. Sounds like pretty horrible customer service to me. Funny how the only one's to complain are the one's that always want something for free.
