Home Sales up Slightly in Plainfield from Sept. 2012-13

The median sales prices has also gone up in Plainfield since last year.

The 103 single, detached homes sold in Plainfield during September 2013 represented a 7.3 percent increase over September 2012, when 96 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

Median sale prices in Plainfield were also up, coming in at $207,000, compared with just more than $184,000 the year before — a 12.4 percent increase.

In the southwest suburbs listed, Lemont experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year, with Channahon and Romeoville also seeing big jumps. Romeoville also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 40.4 percent. 

Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
