Assistant HS Principal to Helm Murphy Junior High

Brent Anderson was chosen by the District 308 board to head the Plainfield-based school that opens in August.

Brent Anderson, an Oswego East High School assistant principal, has been tapped to be the first principal of Murphy Junior High School in Plainfield when it opens in August.

Anderson's appointment was approved at the Feb. 13 Oswego School District 308 board meeting; his salary was set at $95,500, according to a release issued by the district.

The boundaries for the new school have not been set, but Anderson is prepared to start meeting with his new students and their families as soon as the board approves them, the release said. He officially assumes the job July 1.

Prepartations for the new school, located at 26923 Grande Park Blvd., also include getting it ready to be occupied, hiring staff and choosing the school colors and mascot, the release said.

Anderson has been the assistant principal of curriculum and an instructor at OEHS since 2008. Prior to coming to District 308, he was dean of students and the social science department chairman at Ridgewood High School in Norridge. He also taught junior high and high school social science for five years.

Anderson received a bachelor’s degree from Winona State University in Minnesota and a master’s degree in educational leadership from DePaul University. He is working on a doctorate from Northern Illinois University.
