Crystal Lawns Assistant Principal to Take Over as Principal

Current Principal Kathy Baxter will retire at the end of the school year.

Current Crystal Lawns Elementary School Assistant Principal Jennifer Jachowicz will take over as principal starting July 1.

She will replace current Crystal Lawns Principal Dr. Kathy Baxter, who is retiring June 30 after 21 years as the leader of District 202’s oldest school. Baxter will have worked 40 years for District 202 when she retires.

“Ms. Jachowicz is an experienced educator and administrator, having served as assistant principal for three different buildings. We are confident she will do a wonderful job leading Crystal Lawns,” said Mark Heiss, director for elementary administration and personnel.

"I am excited and grateful that I have the opportunity to continue to serve the Crystal Lawns community in the role of Principal,” Jachowicz said.

“While Dr. Baxter can never truly be replaced, I hope to continue to serve the community, students, and staff and make a positive impact in the lives of our families.  I am honored to be a small part of the traditions and the history of Crystal Lawns Elementary,” she said.

Jachowicz came to Crystal Lawns this year after three years as assistant principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. Prior to Thomas Jefferson, she served three years as assistant principal at Lincoln Elementary.

She also taught music from 2002-2007 for Central, Creekside and Eagle Pointe elementary schools in District 202.

Jachowicz taught instrumental music from 2000-2002 in Peotone Community Unit School District 207-U. Jachowicz taught at Peotone High School and three Peotone elementary schools.

She began her education career teaching one year (2000-2001) as a summer band director at Madison and Lincoln junior high schools in Naperville District 203.
