Dist. 202 Surplus Vehicles, Furniture Auctioned Saturday

Money raised will help fund the district's operations budget and the maintenance department.

is holding an auction Saturday for surplus district vehicles, tools, student furniture, shop items and other equipment.

Bidding begins at 9 a.m. rain or shine at the district operations and maintenance facility, 14812 Eastern Ave., Plainfield. Items will be sold as-is, and buyers must pay with cash or checks with proper identification. Auction items do not include computers.

Auction items are no longer needed by the district, Director of Facilities Joel Murphy said.

In past years, this kind of equipment would have been simply disposed of, he said. But given the district’s ongoing fiscal problems, the auction will generate new revenue for the district, he said.

Auction items include pickup trucks, tractors, trailers, shop tools, lawn and garden equipment, office equipment, gas stoves, snow plows, and commercial air handlers. Proceeds will support district operations and maintenance department.
