District 202 Encouraging Participation in Abe Lincoln Lookalike Contest

The 2013 Great Read celebrates the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, made in 1863.

The following was provided by Plainfield School District 202.

Students from preschool through fifth grade in Plainfield School District 202 are invited to dress up like Abraham or Mary Todd Lincoln and enter “The Great Read Abe and Mary Look-a-Like contest” as part of the 2013 Great Read community literacy program.

The 2013 Great Read celebrates the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, made in 1863. The Emancipation Proclamation is one of Lincoln’s greatest achievements. It led to the passage of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1865, which abolished slavery.
