Eastside Shuffle Rescheduled for June 9 in Plainfield

Flooding prompted organizers to postpone the Plainfield East fundraiser.

Plainfield East High School’s inaugural “Eastside Shuffle” 5K run and walk is now planned for Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Settlers' Park, 24401 W. Lockport St. in downtown Plainfield.

The event was originally scheduled for April 21, but was canceled following the flooding rains that occurred the week before.

The special family-oriented event will benefit the PEHS Band Boosters and the PEHS Science Club. TheEastside Shuffle is open to participants of all ages. Children younger than 8 years old can participate at their parents’ discretion.

The 5K Run and Walk will start at 9 a.m. Registration for the 5K Run or Walk is $30 per person if registered by June 2, 2013. Registration after June 2 is $35 per person.

A special “One-Mile Superhero Sprint” event, which will also include a costume contest for participants will start at 10 a.m. Registration for the Superhero Sprint is $20 if registered by June 2, and $25 if registered after June 2.

Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners, and to the top three males and females in nine age groups.

Proceeds from the Eastside Shuffle will support the Band Boosters, who offer financial support and volunteer assistance to the PEHS band programs. As well, proceeds will benefit the Earth Club, which is in its third year and plans to install, grow and cultivate a natural prairie at PEHS.
