Foster Parent Informational

November is Adoption Awareness Month. It's the perfect time to considered becoming a foster parent and helping one or more of the 581,000 children in foster care in the United States including the 115,000 children waiting for adoptive families? Susan Ryan of Plainfield will be sharing her story of foster parenting that led to the adoption of her two special needs children from the foster system as part of an information program aimed at potential foster parents sponsored by Camelot Care Inc., a licensed foster care agency based in Itasca that license families throughout the Chicago area.

If you have ever considered opening your heart and your home to a child in need come listen to "The Long Journey Home" from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 17 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 25 E. Benton Ave. Naperville.

"I know that foster care is not for everyone, but I also believe given the right information many people who otherwise had not considered it might find it could be right for them and their families. I can say without a shadow of a doubt being a foster/adoptive parent is the one thing in my life I have never questioned," Ryan says.

"I would love the opportunity to share my story and the facts about foster parenting with you and your friends and loved ones. I’m not asking for a commitment just an open heart and open mind. Come and listen to my story and decide for yourself if you too are called to help the half a million children who are crying out for help. If you feel there is someone in your life who might be interested in hearing what I have to say, please share this program information with them."

This program is free and is open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is appreciated. For more information, or to register, contact Ginny Zarinebaf, Family Development Specialist, Camelot Care Center Inc. at 630-773-1985 x104.
