Iraq veteran from Plainfield headlines National Day of Prayer service

Glendale Heights – Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is proud to sponsor a community breakfast highlighting the 60th annual National Day of Prayer. Chaplain Lieutenant Colonel Garry Losey, U.S. Army Reserve, will give the keynote address. This is the 12th year Adventist GlenOaks is sponsoring the event along with other community groups.

The event is scheduled 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club, 1550 President St., Glendale Heights.

Losey, a Plainfield resident, is the manager of pastoral care at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. He returned to the U.S. in October after serving for a year at Joint Base Balad, Iraq. He now serves as the family life chaplain in the Reserves for the 85th Support Command in Arlington Heights. He is the recipient of many awards and decorations, including the prestigious Bronze Star Medal, and is in much demand as a speaker.

The theme of the 2011 National Day of Prayer is “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.” This year, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital extends a special invitation to U.S. veterans and active duty military in recognition of their service to this country.

Shari Chamberlain, manager of pastoral care at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, said the prayer breakfast is natural outgrowth of the hospital’s faith-based mission in the community.
