Parents and Public Welcome to Attend Program on Inspirational Girl Killed at Columbine
Community members are invited to hear the inspirational story of Rachel Joy Scott and learn how small changes they can make in their lives will help to carry forth her message.
Representatives with the Rachel’s Challenge program will present a special assembly for parents and community members at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Indian Trail Middle School.
Two similar assemblies for students will be held earlier in the day at 7:45 and 9:15 a.m. All programs will take place in the school’s gymnasium, 14723 South Eastern Avenue, Plainfield.
The Rachel’s Challenge program aims to spread Rachel Joy Scott’s message that positive actions and beliefs can start a chain reaction of kindness. Scott was the first person killed in the Columbine High School shooting on April 20, 1999.
After her death, Scott’s father was inspired by his daughter’s diary entries of her desire to pay it forward and give everyone a chance.
Mr. Scott created an organization to encourage others to live as his daughter did, to positively affect others despite their differences.
