Parents Invited to Learn About Plainfield Park District's Great Adventures Preschool Program

Interested parents can attend one of two FREE information sessions on the Plainfield Park District’s Great Adventures Program for Preschoolers to learn more about the program.

The first session will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. and the other session will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 10:30 a.m. Both sessions will take place at St. John Lutheran Church, 2650 Plainfield Rd. in Joliet. General information and curriculum content will be shared.

Based on the premise that children learn through play, Great Adventures participants ages 3 to 5 explore, create, discover, problem solve, and communicate to develop age-appropriate skills. Experienced, nurturing staff members implement a progressive program using themes to expose students to colors, shapes, numbers, and letters through a friendly, fun atmosphere. A balance of whole group and small group activities encourage academic and listening skills along with social interaction. Each classroom consists of two instructors and approximately 18 students. All children must be completely toilet trained to participate.

Classes begin in early September and run through mid-May. Morning and afternoon sessions are available. Classes take place at St. John Lutheran Church, 2650 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, and at the Streams Recreation Center, 24319 Cedar Creek Ln., Plainfield.
