Registration Starts for Park District's Preschool Program

Resident registration for the ’s Great Adventures Program for Preschoolers will begin Monday, March 7 and run through Thursday, March 24. A registration lottery will occur Friday, March 25.

Based on the premise that children learn through play, Great Adventures participants ages 3 to 5 will explore, create, discover, problem solve, and communicate to develop age-appropriate skills. Experienced, nurturing staff members implement a progressive program using themes to expose students to colors, shapes, numbers, and letters through a friendly, fun atmosphere. A balance of whole group and small group activities encourage academic and listening skills along with social interaction. Each classroom consists of two instructors and approximately 18 students.

All children must be completely toilet trained to participate. Children must be 3 years old by September 1, 2011 to be enrolled in the 3-year-old program, and 4 years old by September 1, 2011 to be enrolled in the 4-year-old program. Children who turn 5 years old by December 15, 2011 may enroll in the Finally Five Program. Does your child miss the Sept. 1 Kindergarten cut-off? Then sign-up for our new Monday-Friday program!

Classes begin in early September and run through mid-May. Morning and afternoon sessions are available. Classes take place at St. John Lutheran Church, 2650 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, and at the Streams Recreation Center, 24319 Cedar Creek Ln., Plainfield.

Registration is accepted only at the Recreation/Administration Center, 23729 W. Ottawa St., Plainfield. Online registration is not accepted for this program.
