Rep. Cross and Edward Hospital to Host Diabetes Awareness Fair

State Representative Tom Cross (R-Oswego) and Edward Hospital will host a free Diabetes Awareness Fair.

The event will include free admission, giveaways, refreshments and information about diabetes.

Certified diabetes educators and Edward doctors will be available to speak with attendees.

Loretha Huff, an A1C champion, will guest speak at 10:30 a.m. She will tell her story of living with diabetes and talk about how to take control of it.

Edward fitness center instructors will host yoga classes at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Diabetes Jeopardy will take place at 11:30 a.m., while Lifetime cookware chefs will demonstrate healthy cooking habits throughout the event.

The National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Mobile will also be at the event. The Kidney Mobile, an interactive educational bus, will provide free blood sugar screening.

Free blood pressure screenings will also be available.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will have members present to talk about how diabetes affects children living with the disease.

Additionally, pharmaceutical, insulin pump and blood sugar meter companies' representatives will answer questions about treatment.
