The school stacked 20,000 plastic or aluminum containers in bags on its lawn in a garbage mountain  known as Mount Go Green to show the students what could have gone into landfills had they not recycled.

At Monday’s meeting, which was held at Grand Prairie, Principal Janan Szurek presented the school board with a $5,000 check that the school won as part of the recycling contest. The school will use the money to invest in other green initiatives, she said.
