Editor's note: The following is a press release issued by Plainfield School District.

John F. Kennedy Middle School Dean of Students Cortnye Rossi is the new assistant principal at Ira Jones Middle School.

The District 202 Board of Education approved Rossi’s appointment at its September 24, 2012 regular meeting. She replaces Tom Novinski, who was named Ira Jones’ Principal earlier this month.

Rossi has served in her current position since 2011. She started her education career in 2000 as an art teacher at (then) Plainfield High School, then taught art at Schaumburg High School from 2001-2005.

She returned to District 202 in 2005 to teach art at Ira Jones Middle School. In 2008-2009, Rossi also worked as a hired administrative intern at both Ira Jones and Indian Trail middle schools as part of a special District 202 professional development program for teachers interested in moving into administration.
