JJC Remembers 9/11 in Public Memorial Tuesday

The event is open to the public and will feature participants from the Joliet police and fire departments and the Will County Sheriff's Office.

Joliet Junior College will honor the memories of those who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a ceremony Tuesday at the school's main campus, 1215 Houbolt Road.

The event, which is open to the public, will be held at the Alumni Bell Tower in front of the Campus Center.

The Will County Sheriff’s Rifle Squad, the Color Guard and the Pipe and Drum Unit will also participate in the outdoor ceremony, which will begin at 8:45 a.m. and should last 30 to 45 minutes. Attendees are asked to arrive no later than 8:35 a.m.

Following the event, there will be a video tribute in the cafeteria and a presentation by Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan, who will speak about his experience helping with recovery at the World Trade Center site. Refreshments will be served.
