Liberty Assistant Principal to Become Principal: District 202

Dana Karczewski, who has served the last two years as Liberty Elementary School’s assistant principal will take over as principal next fall. 

The District 202 Board of Education approved Karczewski’s appointment at its May 12 meeting. Karczewski will replace Principal Christy Frederick, who has accepted a new position in another school district. 

Karczewski has been with District 202 for seven years, starting as a classroom teacher at Ridge Elementary from 2007-2012. She took the Liberty assistant pincipal’s job in 2012.

Karczewski started her education career as a classroom teacher at Kelvin Grove Middle School, from 1998-2004.

“I’m looking forward to continuing Liberty’s tradition of excellence in academic achievement, alongside our involved families outstanding staff,” Karczewski said in a press release issued by the district.

“Mrs. Karczewski is a strong educator and leader and we look forward to her doing a great job at Liberty,” said Mark Heiss, director for elementary administration and personnel.
