Petition Forms for Plainfield School Board Election Available Sept. 21

Candidates must complete nominating petitions by December in order to appear on April 5 ballot.

Nominating petition forms required by candidates who want to run for three open positions on the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board can be circulated starting Sept. 21.

Potential candidates can pick up the forms from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at the District 202 Administration Center, 15732 Howard St., Plainfield. Completed petitions must be returned the week of Dec. 13 to 20 in order for a candidate's name to appear on the April 5 ballot.

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter, at least 18 years old on the date of the election, and a resident of the state and school district for one year prior to the election. The election in nonpartisan meaning candidates do not run under a party affiliation.

The three seats up for election are currently held by board President Stuart Bledsoe, who has been on the board since 2007, Vice President David Obrzut, a board member since 2007, and Roger Bonuchi, who was appointed to the board in 2005 and elected in 2007.

None of the board members has announced if they are seeking re-election. Those elected in April will serve a four-year term expiring in 2015.
