Plainfield Board Hires Elementary, High School Assistant Principals

Board members approved the new hires at a July 15 meeting in Plainfield.

The District 202 Board of Education approved appointing new assistant principals at Lakewood Falls and Thomas Jefferson elementary schools, and Plainfield South High School and Plainfield Academy.

At its regular meeting on July 15, the board approved hiring:

·  Tyler Broders as the new assistant principal at Lakewood Falls Elementary School. Broders served last year as the interim assistant principal at Grand Prairie Elementary School.

He started his education career teaching sixth grade in Rialto, California from 2003-2005, then came to District 202 and Lakewood Falls in 2006 as a fifth grade teacher. 

Broders also served as both the sophomore girls basketball coach and assistant varsity baseball coach at Plainfield High School – Central Campus. He replaces Ryan Anderson, who accepted a principal position in another district.

·  Bridget Adkins as the new assistant principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. For the last year Adkins has taught sixth and seventh grade math at Hadley Junior High School in Glen Ellyn.

Adkins started her education career teaching seventh and eighth grade math and science from 2004-2007 at Heritage Middle School in South Berwyn School District #100. She then taught sixth grade math for four years at Bentley Elementary School in New Lenox School District #122.

Adkins replaces Jennifer Jachowicz, who was appointed last month as the new assistant principal at Crystal Lawns Elementary School.

·  Amber Nickel as the new assistant principal at Plainfield Academy. Nickel has taught special education at Ira Jones Middle School since 2006. 

Nickel started her education career in 2004 as a special education teacher at Troy Middle School in the Troy School District #30C. 

She replaces Tim Albores, who was appointed the new Student Services Assistant Director in May 2013.

·  Dr. Christine Warren, as the new associate principal at Plainfield South High School. Warren has served the last year as Director of Secondary Programs for East Aurora School District #131. 

From 2011-12, Warren worked for PSHS as the Math Department Chair and Math and Science Department Division Chair. From 2008-2011, she served as District Math Facilitator for East Aurora School District #131.

Warren has also served as an adjunct faculty member for Waubonsee Community College, Aurora University and Benedictine University.

She started her education career in 1998, serving one year as a math teacher at Lemont High School. She also taught math at Wheaton Warrenville South High School from 1999 to 2007.
