Plainfield in NY Times Story on Non-English Speaking Students

The number of "English-language learners" in Plainfield School District 202 has tripled since 2005, according to the article.

Suburban Chicago schools can't keep up with the need for bilingual programs prompted by the huge increase in non-English-speaking students, according to an article in the new York Times.

The article, in particular, cites , where "English-language learners" have tripled from 674 in 2005 to nearly 2,100 in 2011.

It also quotes resident Carmen Avalos, whose children's grades improved once they started taking classes in a bilingual program
