Plainfield Principal Accepts Job in Oswego School District

Bednarcik Junior High has a new principal for the 2013-14 school year.

Sharon Alexander, currently principal of Aux Sable Middle School in will join Oswego 308 on July 1. Alexander's base salary is $98,500 and with an additional Teachers Retirement System (TRS) contribution of $10,219.67

She replaces outgoing Bednarcik Principal Pamela Jensen, who took a position in St. Charles School District 303.

"I look forward to working with an established teaching staff and school community,” Alexander said in a school press release. “After 15 years as a school administrator at the junior high and middle school levels, I feel confident that we will continue to move, grow and improve, in meeting all of our learners' needs."

Alexander has been in the education field since 1995. After a year serving as the director of public relations and marketing and three years as an English and speech teacher for high school at-risk students in Joliet Township High School, Alexander was hired in Valley View School District 365U to serve as a middle school assistant principal.

She maintained that position for eight years, working at Bernard J. Ward Middle School from 1998-2004 and Brooks Middle School from 2004-2006. In 2006, Alexander was hired as the principal of Aux Sable Middle School in Plainfield Consolidated Community School District 202 where she will remain until her position begins with District 308.

"School District 308 received over 60 outstanding applicants for this principal's position,” said Superintendent Dr. Matthew Wendt. “We are very fortunate to have the top candidate accept our offer to join the leadership team.  Ms. Alexander brings unique experience and her leadership style has been proven in several high-performing school districts. I agree with the committee's recommendation: Ms. Alexander is an outstanding person, educator and leader; and I am very pleased to have her join us in our pursuit toward a world-class school system."   

Alexander received her bachelor’s degree in secondary English from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree as well as her Type 75 Administrative Certification from Governors State University.

She has her Educational Specialist degree from Northern Illinois University along with her superintendent’s endorsement. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in education leadership at Northern Illinois University.
