Plainfield School Board OKs 5-Month Layoff for Seven Grounds Workers

In $160,000 cost-saving measure, employees will go from full-time status to seasonal work for seven months out of the year.

The Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 has decided to lay off seven grounds specialists for about five months as part of its budget deficit reduction plan.

The board on Tuesday approved the reduction-in-force of educational support personnel so that the grounds employees would be changed from a 12-month employment status to a seasonal employment status.

This amounts to about a five-month layoff and will save about $160,000, officials said.
