Plainfield Schools Operating Normally After Romeoville Incident: District

Normal security measures in effect in Plainfield.

District 202 sent out an alert to parents that schools will continue operating normally despite a shooting in nearby Romeoville.

"We have been in regular contact this morning with all of our law enforcement partners," Community Relations Director Tom Hernandez said in a statement. "None of them express any concern for the safety of our schools or students. Nor have they advised us to take any extraordinary safety measures. We will continue to operate normally, unless the police advise otherwise. Please be assured that our school doors are always locked, and our normal security measures remain in effect. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

A soft lockdown at Valley View schools in Romeoville ended around 10 a.m. Police were looking for a man suspected of shooting a mother and daughter in the 300 block of Emery in Romeoville.
