The first day of school is fast approaching, and District 202 is urging new residents to get their students registered.
In a message sent out Tuesday night, the district noted that the first day of the 2013-14 school year is Aug. 15, and any students who are new should be registered immediately:
"Please encourage anyone with students who will be new to District 202 this year to register their children for school as soon as possible. This will help us finalize morning and afternoon kindergarten assignments, transportation routes, staffing and other important issues and allow us to start the new school year off on the right foot.
All of our schools are open and staff is available to help families register and be ready for the first day of school."
