A seven-year special education veteran teacher and administrator will serve as one of Aux Sable Middle School’s two assistant principals next school year.

The District 202 Board of Education approved appointing Marc DeWit to the post, effective July 1, 2014. He will replace current Assistant Principal Bridgette Sprovieri.

DeWit is currently the special education coordinator for the Grant Park Community Unit School District #6 in Grant Park, Illinois; and in the same capacity for the St. George School District #258 in Bourbonnais.

He started his education career as a special education teacher for three years at Peotone High School from 2007-10.

From 2010-12, DeWit served as special education department chair at Peotone High School. He then worked for a year for the Kankakee Area Special Education Cooperative before moving into his current position.
