UPDATED: Plainfield School District, Library, Park District Cancel Activities

Buses will pick up students slightly early Tuesday afternoon. Stay tuned for more information on closings and cancellations.

The Plainfield Public Library will also be closing early at 3 p.m. due to the inclement weather.

At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Joliet Junior College announced the following via its Facebook page.

"All Joliet Junior College campuses and extension centers will close today, Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 4:30 p.m. due to the winter weather. All evening classes, activities, and meetings, including the Board of Trustees meetings, have been canceled ... As of now, college operations are expected to resume as scheduled on Wednesday."

The Plainfield Park District has also cancelled all activities for Tuesday evening, according to the park district Facebook page.

The park district's recreation/administration center, 23729 W. Ottawa St., will close at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and reopen at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Updated at 1:22 p.m. Feb. 26:

Due to inclement weather, Plainfield School District 202 is cancelling all after-school and evening activities.

The cancellations include all athletic practices and contests, adult and student club meetings, rehearsals and all Plainfield Park District programs scheduled in District 202 buildings.

The YMCA Kidzone program will run as scheduled.

All cancelled events will be rescheduled as needed, as soon as possible, according to a press release from the district.

With a winter weather advisory calling for 3 to 6 inches of snow for the Plainfield area, Plainfield School District officials are sending students home slightly early Tuesday.

In a Connect-ED message sent to parents, the district announced that high school students at all four campuses will be dismissed 20 minutes early at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Middle school students will be dismissed as soon as all their buses arrive following the completion of the high school bus runs.

Elementary school students will be dismissed as close to the usual time as possible.

The district has also cancelled all Title I after-school programs and the Turnabout program for Tuesday afternoon.

Oswego schools cancel activities

All spring sports practices and after-school activities scheduled for today, Feb. 26, have been canceled due to the weather, according to the Oswego 308 School website.

The regional high school boys basketball games scheduled for this evening had not yet been canceled as of shortly before noon Tuesday. 

JCA cancellations

Joliet Catholic Academy has also cancelled all afternoon activities, including athetics, according to the school's Facebook page.
