Time to be a Silent Hero -- Dire Need for Blood Donations

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, but donations are at a 12-year low. With only one hour of sacrifice, you will be the silent hero for up to three families. Please help.

If your blood type is B negative or O negative, you could save some lives.

Life Source is tearing up the phone lines, desperately searching for blood donors, and they have asked me to reach out to as many people as I can. So here I am!

Why give blood?

We all unintentionally rely on the fact that donated blood will be waiting at each and every medical facility we happen to visit. No patient — nor family of a patient — wants to hear there isn’t blood readily available to save a life that may be in peril.

Today, our blood banks are threatened with lowest numbers of donations in 12 years. Now is the time when we need to step up to the plate and donate. Every pint of donated blood saves up to three lives.

While the banks need all blood types, they are in desperate search of B negative and O negative blood. Is this your type? Are you ready to save three people’s lives?

Lifesource accepts appointments online at one of their locations and also has a schedule of places holding blood drives posted. The site is http://lifesource.org. People without Internet access can call 1-877-543-3768.

Lifesource offers an incentive program called BL Rewards for those who plan on donating.

For those who prefer more donation options, the American Red Cross also has locations and mobile centers for donations. To donate to the Red Cross Blood Bank or for more information, call 1-800-733-2767 or go to http://redcrossblood.org.

As the Red Cross states: The need is constant. The gratification is instant. Give Blood.

Let me know when you donate! I would love to hear your story!
